The CEO Has The Floor

When I look back at BuddyPro’s journey, I feel a deep sense of pride. What we have built in a relatively short time was never just an idea or a technical product. BuddyPro was born out of a very real need to fix a system that simply was not working.

When we began our journey in 2017, I brought with me more than a decade of experience from international retail, including close collaboration with the founders behind Media Markt, a company operating across more than 17 markets.

That experience shaped an early conviction: the future of commerce and services would increasingly move into people’s homes.

Today, we are in the middle of a historic transformation. The service economy is evolving rapidly, and through our work we have identified more than 30 major trends reshaping how services are delivered, managed, and consumed. Four of these trends stand out as particularly powerful drivers behind BuddyPro’s mission.

The Aging Population

Across Europe, the share of elderly citizens is rising sharply, increasing the need for everyday services and assistance. In Sweden alone, the population aged over 75 is expected to grow by nearly 30 percent by 2040. Already today, hundreds of thousands of people rely on ongoing social and household services, and this demand will continue to grow.

Increasing Complexity of Products and Services

Technological progress is accelerating. From smart home systems and connected appliances to advanced consumer electronics, everyday products are becoming more complex. Most consumers simply lack the time or expertise to install, maintain, and troubleshoot these solutions. As a result, the need for skilled professionals is increasing, even for tasks that were once considered simple.

Changing Habits of Younger Generations

Younger generations are reshaping consumption patterns. Many lack both the interest and practical skills required for traditional household tasks. Studies show that a significant share of Generation Z cannot identify basic tools or perform simple installations. This shift is driving demand for professional help in areas that were previously handled independently.

The Rise of the Gig Economy

The way we work is changing fundamentally. More people are choosing independent work, flexible assignments, or multiple income streams instead of traditional employment. While the gig economy is expanding rapidly, many professionals still lack the tools needed to manage scheduling, payments, customer relationships, and daily operations efficiently.

Having built and operated service companies such as TechBuddy, TaskRunner, and BuddyCompany, we understand the service industry from the inside. We know what it takes to scale a business, what slows growth, and where today’s solutions fall short. Time and again, we saw skilled professionals, technicians, service providers, and craftsmen spending more time on administration than on the work they excel at. The challenge was never a lack of demand or competence. It was inefficient systems and outdated processes holding them back.

But BuddyPro is about something bigger than efficiency alone. For me, this goes beyond technology. It is a mission.

Everything we build is designed to strengthen local entrepreneurship. We believe that strong local businesses create vibrant communities, generate employment, and deliver better experiences for customers. When entrepreneurs are given the right tools, everyone benefits.

This mission is deeply personal. I grew up watching my parents arrive with valuable skills and an exceptional work ethic, yet struggle to find the right opportunities to turn their knowledge into sustainable businesses. Despite their drive, the systems around them were not built to help them succeed. That experience shaped the foundation of BuddyPro.

Our goal is to change that. We are building a platform that does more than simplify daily work. It enables more people to build something of their own and shape their future on their own terms.

We see enormous potential ahead. By continuously innovating and working closely with our customers and partners, we are determined to lead the transformation of the service economy. And while we have come a long way, this is only the beginning of the journey.
